Last week the College community celebrated Health and PE Week.
This year’s theme was Good for Children, Good for Schools, Good for Communities and staff and students certainly enjoyed the opportunity to get their heart rate going and show their competitive spirit!
Our activities aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of physical activity. Each day, students in homeroom completed a quiz on a range of topics including healthy eating, nutrition, sleep, CRC sports history, Australian sport and the benefits of exercise.
Some of our brave students also took on the Physical Activity Challenge, completing 150 push-ups, a 100-point challenge and more! Congratulations to Year 8 student, Samantha De Guzman, who was the overall winner.
The Bike ‘n’ Blend stall was a massive hit with students working hard to make their own smoothies. In addition to the hard work and refreshing reward, we raised $102 for Fair Game, an organisation that provides health and fitness programs for disadvantaged, remote communities.
On Thursday we had a cycling class and workout led by our HPE staff with students getting their heart rate up and enjoying a Deck of Cards Challenge to test stamina and skill.
The week ended with a footy scarf day and a netball match between our Year 12 students and staff. The staff did well to keep up with the more agile legs of the students, and a super goal from our Sports Assistant Ella Higgins sealed the win.
Well done to all staff and students who immersed themselves in the HPE Week activities. A massive thank you to the HPE team for their dedication, time and passion throughout the week.
Keep moving!
