Weekly Reflection

A prayer to begin a new term

We are created in the image and likeness of God. Filled with the divine presence, may we always reflect the face of Christ to the world.

May our hidden selves grow strong in Christ.

May our lives be planted in love and built on love, so that every decision may be patterned on the mind of Christ.

May we grow in all ways into Christ.

May we see with the eyes of faith and reach out with the compassion of Christ to those who are troubled or in need.

May Christ live in our hearts through faith.

Out of his infinite glory, may he give you the power through his Spirit for your hidden self to grow strong, so that:

"Christ may live in your hearts through faith, and then, planted in love and built on love, you will, with all the saints have strength to grasp the breadth and the length, the height and the depth; until, knowing the love of Christ, which is beyond all knowledge, you are filled with the utter fullness of God". (Eph 3:14–19)

From the Principal

Welcome to Term 3, 2023. It is hard to believe we are already mid-way through July and commencing Semester 2 – the year is flying by!

For our VCE students, this is an important term. Unit 4 content will be completed, and revision will begin. It is critical that part-time working hours and other commitments are limited as students prepare for end-of-year exams. I remind students that Term 3 will pass very quickly and that it will be too late in Term 4 to commence studying for exams.

For our Year 12 VCAL cohort this term is a chance to acquire all the required competencies to ensure they qualify for the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning.

Often during this time of year, students are turning 18, attending parties and gaining their driver's licence. It is important to enourage our students to balance their studies and other commitments to ensure successful long-term outcomes that will set them in good stead for the future.

As parents and guardians, you play an important role in supporting students as they come to the end of their secondary school years.

We wish all our Year 12 students a successful final semester at the College.

Winter rain jacket

After submissions by several parents, the uniform committee has arranged for an additional rain jacket to be added to the uniform list.

This jacket will help keep students dry and should be worn over the blazer. The rain jacket is not a compulsory item and does not replace the blazer.

All students should still wear their blazers at all times while travelling to and from the College.

The jacket is available from Academy Uniforms for $42.

College Production Premieres Thursday 10 August

Our bi-annual College production Rags to Riches will entertain audiences in our Performing Arts Centre from Thursday 10 August to Saturday 12 August.

This year's production is split into two acts.

Act 1 -  Cinderella, if the shoe fits

First up is the hard-to-resist, all-time favourite fairy tale, told with fun and flair. Our actors take over the stage playing rhyming narrators, singing villagers, friendly animals, charming royalty, energetic messengers, the haughty stepmother and stepsisters, the irresistible Fairy Godmother, and lovely Cinderella. Of course, once the charming Prince discovers the proper owner of that famous sparkling slipper, everyone lives happily ever after!

Act 2 - Celebration of music and dance

This act showcases our talented Vocal ensemble, VET music band, classroom dancers and dance ensembles.

Show times are: Thursday 10 August, 7pm; Friday 11 August, 7pm; Saturday 12 August, 1pm.
