This week, we asked our student leaders to tell us what was motivating them during lockdown and offer pictures or words that inspired them to remain optimistic and focused.
Mamba Mentality – Kobe Bryant. In times of adversity it gave him all the more reason to work harder and make the most of the little things he had. By making the most of what we have now, it is easier to progress and achieve success when our situation is normal again.
Your best is good enough.
It takes the pressure off ‘the competition’ particularly in VCE when the competition is within yourself.
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
I chose this verse from the Bible, because I think people should trust in God at this time and not politicians and the mainstream media. There is too much fear, creating too many mental health issues. Trust your God, he will provide for you. Trust only him.
Life Is A Highway Song by Tom Cochrane
The name of this song perfectly describes life – at times the road is easy and at other times bumpy and difficult to travel on. Online education symbolises the many rocks that are embedded in the road ahead. We just have to hit the accelerator to keep moving forward. You do not want to hit the brakes too much otherwise you might fall behind. Life can be many things, but in my eyes it’s a roller coaster, a battlefield, a highway.
Fear has 2 meanings.
Fear Everything And Run
or
Face Everything and Rise
The choice is yours. Zig Zigla
This quote inspires me when I try new things or sometimes it gives me the courage to step out of my comfort zone. To “face everything and rise”, as the quote says, is something I like to think I can achieve.
This quote comes from one of my favourite books that has kept me going through some hard times. It reminds me there is nothing that cannot be achieved if you dare to try and dream and just keep going even when it seems all hope is lost.
You need to seperate yourself from the person who others think you are. Then, and only then will you be on the right path to find your true purpose.
This is something I created for myself - it’s a realisation I’ve come to recently.”
Your hurt may not be your fault, but your healing is your responsibility. The battle is within, and if fought with pure intentions, you will come out in victory.
My third grade therapist once told me “your hurt may not be your fault, but your healing is your responsibility”. For me, this means that change begins with you and your mindset.
Your biggest enemy, is your ‘inner me’.
I came across this saying in 2019 when I was watching Rhythm and Flow (a reality tv show). Basically it infers that you are your only obstacle, yes you are influenced, but the ultimate decision making is up to you.
This is one of my favourite Dr Seuss quotes. It inspires me to try and push the boundaries of what I can accomplish, especially during lockdown.
