A Competition for Year 9 Mathematical Minds

On Monday 8 August, six Year 9 students competed in a Maths Games Day hosted by the Mathematics Association of Victoria at Southern Cross Grammar in Caroline Springs.

In two teams, the students put their maths skills to the test to complete puzzles and competed one-on-one against other students from across Victoria to solve difficult mathematical problems.

The students did a fantastic job representing our school and flexing their mathematical minds. Out of 61 teams, our students came 35th and 36th, an extraordinary and commendable effort.

They enjoyed meeting students from other schools and appreciated the opportunity to spend a day completing maths activities.

Watch this space for the results of upcoming competitions. Our Year 8 students will take part in their Maths Games Day on Wednesday 24 August, Year 7 on Monday 29 August and Year 10 Wednesday 31 August.
