On Friday 1 November, we officially opened and blessed Stage 1 of the Cobblebank Campus.
It was a pleasure to welcome distinguished guests, including Bishop Martin Ashe, who conducted the blessing with our parish priest, Fr Alex Clemente and the Member for Melton Steve McGhie, who unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening of our second Year 7-12 campus.
Our College Ensemble sang like angels, and the behaviour and reverence of our Year 8 students in attendance were exemplary.
This event marked a significant milestone in our journey as a community of faith and learning. The vision has been years in the making, commencing with the purchase of the land package back in 2018 by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (formerly Catholic Education Melbourne).
In 2020, a working party, including the Principal of Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs Jamie Madigan and myself, was established to work on the master plan for the College.
On 10 November 2021, we celebrated the Groundbreaking Ceremony in very wet and windy conditions, and our Stage 1 building commenced.
Along the way, there have indeed been many hurdles to overcome.
Through these challenges, however, we developed resilience, creativity and a positive growth mindset as we navigated each of the delays that arose.
The flexibility and collaborative approach we developed during the build have set us in good stead for our future building plans.
I thank the State Government for the $5 million contribution to Stage 1 of Cobblebank Campus and the Catholic Development Fund for the loan that enabled us to construct our first two buildings.
Stage 2 is now on the way and tenders for Stage 3 will go out in the near future.
