Success at SACCSS Blast Girls Cricket Gala Day

Congratulations to our Melton Campus Girls cricket team who claimed the overall Champions title at the SACCSS Girls Cricket Blast Day last Friday.

This is the second big victory for our girls, who also won the top spot at the Girls Cricket Gala earlier this year, resulting in their selection to represent SACCSS at the Victorian Indoor Cricket Championships.

The team showed remarkable sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill, approaching each match with enthusiasm and determination.

Whether batting, bowling or fielding, the girls gave their all, with the captain, Year 10 student Shameka, leading the team and earning Best on Ground on the day.

Below is her wrap-up of the grand final match against Emmanuel College.

“We batted first and made a brilliant start to the game with our Year 9s Bianca, Tanae, Veronica and Hannah hitting plenty of boundaries. At the end of the innings, our girls had 157 runs on the board.

“We then followed up with some bowling, taking a couple of wickets, and some excellent fielding. Our girls put up a fight and cut Emmanuel’s runs to a total of 104.

“All our team members impacted the game, whether through fielding, bowling, or batting, and everyone contributed.”

Well done to all the players for their dedication to the cricket team and one-day event. Special thanks to coach and teacher Stephanie Bertalmio for her time, effort, and commitment to the team all year.

Cobblebank Campus Girls Cricket Team

Congratulations to our Cobblebank Campus team who participated in the SACCSS Blast Girls Cricket Gala Day for the first time, heading home with two wins from four games and a growing interest in cricket!

The team were incredibly enthusiastic and supportive of each other when batting, bowling, or fielding and showed impressive growth throughout the day.

They had a fun day representing the College, and we look forward to seeing them shine in next year’s competition.
